Sydney Cafe Racers

Sydney Cafe Racers founder Mark Hawwa..
I remember he walked into our shop asking if there were any groups/persons who got together and went for decent rides on a regular basis. I said i don't really have the time to get out and socialise because of work and family commitments so i'm not going to be any help on this matter. I could see he was slightly frustrated as he explained that most groups do once a year event rides and it just wasn't enough. Mark then said i'm going to try and start a group and see if anyone is interested. I thought the idea was good and i told him to go for it.

To Marks' surprise Sydney Cafe Racers first outing attracted a crowd of around 30 riders. All reports were good and it looks like it's going to get bigger. For those interested in getting involved click here: http://www.sydneycaferacers.com/info/

Marlon Brando, The Wild One...

The Wild One Poster Click Add to Cart to Order

One of my all time favourite films:
The Wild One. 1953

'The story took a cue from an actual biker street party on the Fourth of July weekend in 1947 in Hollister, California that was elaborately trumped up in the July 21, 1947 issue of Life Magazine, and dubbed the Hollister riot, with staged photographs of wild motorcycle outlaw revelers. '

As if the photo above wasn't enough to shock the general public, Stanley Kramer made a movie about it which instantly drew a cult following.

1952 Triumph Thunderbird brando

Controversy surrounded this film from day one, it found it's way to a dead end ban by censors in the UK for fourteen years! Finally the film was released in November, 1967 under an 'X' certificate and viewed first at the 59 club in 1968. It was also said that Johnson Motors (importers of Triumph Motorcycles USA) objected to the use of the 6t Triumph in the film.

Marlon Brando's portrayal of Johnny Strabler has become legendary. Johnnys' image remains iconic even today. His leather jacket, tilted cap, Triumph motorcycle and long sideburns also inspired James Dean and Elvis Presley amongst others. The Jacket worn by Johnny is known as the 'Brando Jacket'. Now that's influence!

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane

     ------Mr Rock and Roll Detective------

Speaking of characters, it's not easy to go past Andrew Dice Clays' Ford Fairlane, Rock and Roll detective.
This foul mouthed rocker made us laugh so hard with his crude jokes and i don't give a f*%k attitude. No role model here but a straight up excellent drinking buddy who appreciates good music, hot babes, classic cars and rare guitars. Unf*ckin'believable!
